The Thought Behind Recognition

• Holly Polston • Recognition • Veteran's Day

Veterans Day gives us an opportunity to recognize the veterans in our workplaces, schools, organizations, and communities — and to let them know their service is remembered and appreciated.

Recognition doesn't have to be complicated. Sometimes, it's simply taking the time to say thank you. For organizations, it can also be an opportunity to create a thoughtful moment of appreciation, whether that's through an event, a personal gesture, or something meaningful they can take with them.

Making Recognition Meaningful

If you're planning a Veterans Day event or looking for a way to recognize veterans within your organization, there are many ways to make that recognition personal. A challenge coin can serve as a lasting keepsake to commemorate service. A thoughtfully chosen gift can become something someone keeps long after November 11.

There are also opportunities to make your recognition support something bigger. Some promotional product collections give back to organizations that serve veterans through participating product sales. Choosing one of these products can add another layer of meaning to an already thoughtful gesture, allowing your organization to recognize a veteran while also supporting a cause.

But the important part isn't the product. It's the thought behind the recognition.

When SWAG is chosen with a purpose, it can does more than carry a logo. It can help say thank you, commemorate someone's service, create a lasting reminder of appreciation, or support a cause that matters. That's what we mean when we talk about SWAG as Strategic Ways to Achieve Goals. The goal isn't simply to put your brand on something and hand it out. It's to think about what you're trying to accomplish and choose something that helps you get there.

For Veterans Day, the goal is recognition. That might look different for every organization. It could be a small employee appreciation gift, a commemorative item at an event, a piece of apparel, or a product that gives back. What matters most is that the choice is intentional and the appreciation behind it is genuine.

Experience That Supports the Details

For more than 30 years, Garment Graphics & Promotional Products has helped organizations find, create, and manage promotional products for all kinds of events and recognition programs. That experience means we can help with the details — from finding an appropriate product and working within a budget to handling artwork, production, and fulfillment — without losing sight of the reason behind the project in the first place.

Veterans are part of our workplaces, schools, organizations, families, and communities. This Veterans Day, let's take the opportunity to pause, say thank you, and recognize their service in a way that feels genuine and meaningful.

Recognition can take many forms. What matters is that we take the time to show it.
